Calcutta Kolkata in West Bengal in India in South Asia
The Howrah Bridge also known as Rabindra Setu Bridge is a cantilever bridge with suspended span over the Hooghly River in Calcutta, it was commissioned in 1943. It has become an iconic landmark and symbol of Calcutta and was mentioned in Rudyard Kipling's City of Dreadful Night. Brutalist industrial architecture has many detractors but also has a rugged beauty with its geometric shapes and magnificent bulk and iron metallic aspect. Brutalism in the streets of India
