Occasionally one comes across some very unconventional sculpture statues in Balinese temples. This one reminded me of the French phrase 'jolie laide' which means 'beautiful ugly'. He or she whilst very ugly has a certain sanguine confidence and 'je ne sais quoi' attitude to life that we can all learn from and may be the message behind the sculpture.
