Peranakan is a Malay word that refers to the descendants of the early Chinese settlers in Singapore. I came across this extraordinary house with its beautiful image of a soldier in a network of streets in downtown Singapore and was taken aback its ornate beauty reminding us of the migration of the early Chinese settlers and the rich culture they brought with them
