Machu Picchu in Sacred Valley in the Andes in Peru In Latin South America.
I think one of the most memorable things to do in life is to walk among the ruins at Machu Picchu as the sun rises over a new day. I arrived at about five in the morning before it starts to not only get hot but also before it fills up with visitors and I was able to be more or less alone here. The sense of stillness and serenity feels almost unique to this very special place. The Incas built the estate around 1450 but abandoned it a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Although known locally it was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham.
