Kumartoli Kumortoli in Calcutta Kolkata in West Bengal in India in South Asia
One of the most fascinating places in Kolkata is the potters district known as Kumartuli. I spent a morning in these alleys meeting the potters and photographing the Hindu deities. The skill of the potters is incredible and they create these beautiful avatar sculptures out of clay mud. This is one of the studios with the heads of the gods goddesses deities and I particularly liked the surrealism in this still life. Bizarre and surreal art in the streets of Asia
